Biography

Research interests: Shi’s research has been focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of obesity and its associated disorders, with the greatest emphasis on the causative link between inflammation and insulin resistance.

Shi earned his Ph.D. in nutrition with a minor in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology from the University of Tennessee and completed post-doctoral training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of
 Harvard Medical School.
