Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior, University of California, Irvine in Irvine, Calif., 1993

Biography

Research interests: Parent’s lab studies how excess intake of sugar and fat impairs the functioning of a brain region critical for memory (the hippocampus) and how the hippocampus, in turn, regulates energy intake. Her research is exploring the possibility that impaired hippocampal function contributes to the development and/or maintenance of diet-induced obesity.

Parent earned her Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior from the University of California, Irvine and completed post-doctoral training at the University of Virginia.
